Als moderate Computer-Vielspieler werden bei dieser Studie Jugendliche gezählt, die zirka neun Stunden pro Woche mit Computer- und Videospielen verbringen. Auch das Belohnungszentrum der besagten Leute ist demnach größer als bei Menschen, die sich deutlich weniger mit diesen Medien beschäftigen.

Allerdings liefert die Studie bisher noch keine Erklärung zu der Frage, ob das Hirnvolumen tatsächlich mit dem Konsum von Computer- und Videospielen anwächst oder ob sich die besagten Leute im Umkehrschluss einfach stärker zu diesen Medien hingezogen fühlen. Die Antwort darauf sollen weitere Studien liefern, die von der Berliner Charité bereits geplant werden.
