Wie Microsoft in einer »kurzen Mitteilung« bekannt gab, wird die auch als »Customer Preview« bezeichnete Beta-Version des neuen Betriebssystems Windows 8 ab dem 29. Februar erhältlich sein. Damit hat sich der Termin, der aus Gerüchten bekannt war, bestätigt.

Die offizielle Vorstellung soll dabei am späten Nachmittag zwischen 15 und 17 Uhr stattfinden und auch der Download des Betriebssystems wird noch am gleichen Tag möglich sein. Zwar gibt es noch keine Informationen darüber, ob die Beta-Version auch in Deutsch angeboten wird, es dürfte allerdings recht wahrscheinlich sein, da Deutsch stets zu den ersten unterstützten Sprachen bei Microsoft-Produkten gehört.

Die Vorstellung auf einer Mobilfunkmesse deutet darauf hin, dass Microsoft besonders viel Wert auf die »Ableger« Windows Phone 8 und die ARM-Version von Windows 8 für Tablets legt.
