Die Spatzen hatten es bereits von den Dächern gepfiffen, dass Crytek an einer weiteren Fortsetzung seines Erfolgs-Shooters "Crysis" arbeitet. Am Montag rückten die Frankfurter Spieleschmiede und Publisher Electronic Arts nun mit ersten Details und Bildern zu "Crysis 3" heraus, das demnach im Frühjahr 2013 erscheinen soll.

Wie in den ersten beiden Teilen auch , schlüpft der Spieler in "Crysis 3" in die Rolle eines Elite-Soldaten, der die Erde gegen außerirdische Eindringlinge verteidigen muss. Schauplatz ist das New York des Jahres 2047: Unter einer gigantischen Kuppel, genannt Nanodom, gelegen, hat sich die Stadt zu einem Regenwald-Biotop entwickelt, in dem der Spieler laut Crytek dank High-Tech-Bogen und verbessertem Nanosuit mit der Zeit vom Gejagten zum tödlichsten Jäger des Planeten wird.
Im Mittelpunkt der Story steht Protagonist Prophet, der Rache an den Erbauern des unter Quarantäne stehenden Nanodoms nehmen möchte. Denn anstatt, wie propagiert, die Bevölkerung zu beschützen und die Großstädte von den Überresten der außerirdischen Ceph-Streitkräfte zu säubern, versucht die Cell-Corporation mithilfe des gewaltigen Baus, Land und Technologien und somit letzten Endes die Weltherrschaft an sich zu reißen.
Taktik, Geschick und Schnelligkeit sollen gefragt sein, wenn es der Spieler zwischen Häuserschluchten und dichter Vegetation sowohl mit den kriminellen paramilitärischen Einheiten der CELL-Organisation als auch den außerirdischen Ceph zu tun bekommt (siehe Screenshots unten).
"Crysis 3" soll Grafik-Messlatte eine Stufe höher legen
"'Crysis 3' wird für Shooter-Fans der perfekte Mix aus 'Sandbox-Gameplay', taktischen Kämpfen und High-Tech Waffen", kündigte Crytek-Geschäftsführer Cevat Yerli an. "Wir nutzen die neueste Entwicklungsstufe der CryENGINE 3 , um dem Spieler unterschiedliche Umgebungen zu bieten, die nicht nur atemberaubend aussehen, sondern durch die sich auch das Spielerlebnis ständig ändert."
Yerli, der Crytek 1997 zusammen mit seinen Brüdern Faruk und Avni gründete, verspricht zudem, "die Messlatte in Sachen Grafik und Gameplay im Vergleich zu jetzt aktuellen Titeln mit 'Crysis 3' mindestens eine Stufe höher" zu legen. Die ersten beiden Teile des Shooters verkauften sich weltweit mehr als 6,5 Millionen Mal. Durch die von Crytek entwickelte CryENGINE 3 gilt insbesondere "Crysis 2" auch mehr als ein Jahr nach Erscheinen noch als Referenz in Sachen Grafik und Effekten.
