Gigabyte arbeitet an einer besonderen Version der Nvidia Geforce GTX 680, die einen sehr ungewöhnlichen Kühler besitzt.

Auf der asiatischen Webseite Coolaler sind erste Bilder einer Nvidia Geforce GTX 680 von Gigabyte aufgetaucht, die zur Super Overclocked-Serie des Herstellers gehört. Die Besonderheit dieser Grafikkarte ist der massige Windforce 5X-Kühler, der dazu führt, dass im Rechner gleich drei Slots belegt werden.

Der große Kühlkörper besteht aus Aluminium, während die Abwärme von Videospeicher und Grafikchip durch eine Kupferbasis aufgenommen und durch fünf Heatpipes weitergeleitet wird. Ungewöhnlich ist die Art und Platzierung der Lüfter. Statt wie üblich größere Lüfter an der Seite anzubringen, setzt Gigabyte auf fünf kleine 40-mm-Lüfter auf der Oberseite der Grafikkarte.

Auch die Platine wurde für eine bessere Stromversorgung überarbeitet, die allerdings auch dazu führt, dass die Grafikkarte einen 8-Pin- und eine 6-Pin-Stromanschluss benötigt. Taktraten, Preis und Veröffentlichungsdatum sind noch nicht bekannt.
