Die Samsung CPUs Exynos 4412 und Exynos 4210 leiden aktuellen Erkenntnissen zufolge an einer kritischen Sicherheitslücke. Die CPUs, die unter anderem in den Android-Smartphones Galaxy S3 und Note 2 verbaut sind, lassen einen Exploit zu, der ohne Zutun des Nutzers Root-Rechte aktiviert.

Apps wie Titanium Backup oder AdAway benötigen Root-Zugriff, um zu funktionieren. Laut den XDA-Entwicklern sei eine Datei im Kernel-Code Schuld an der Lücke. Die Datei "/dev/exynos-mem" findet man in Smartphones mit den Exynos-Prozessoren 4210 und 4412. Diese Prozessoren kommen in den in Deutschland erhältlichen Smartphones Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE und dem Tablet Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 zum Einsatz.

Wie schließt man die Exynos-Lücke?

Die Ursache der Lücke ist also ein bestimmter Code. Entfernt man diesen, sind die oben genannten Smartphones zwar wieder sicher, allerdings hört dann die Kamera auf zu funktionieren.
