Während manche Experten das Ende des PCs schon lange heraufbeschwören, sieht Nvidia eine rosige Zukunft für PC-Spieler voraus.

Wie Techgage meldet, veröffentlichte Nvidia bei einer Telefonkonferenz einige Informationen, die der Diskussion über das »Ende des PCs« einige neue Details hinzufügen. Die Verkäufe von PC-Spielen steigen laut Nvidia stetig an und werden nach Ansicht des Unternehmens schon im Jahr 2014 die aller Konsolen-Spiele übertreffen.

Einziger Wermutstropfen ist der sinkende Verkauf von PC-Spielen über den Einzelhandel, der jedoch durch steigende Verkäufe über digitale Distributionen mehr als aufgefangen wird. Ein weiterer Vorteil des PCs ist dessen Aufrüstbarkeit, denn eine aktuelle Nvidia Geforce GTX 580 ist rund 10 Mal schneller als in Konsolen verbaute Grafikchips, deren Leistung über die ganze Lebensdauer der Konsole unverändert bleibt und damit immer mehr an Boden verliert.

Selbst bei der Vorstellung neuer Konsolen seien damalige PC-Grafikkarten schon leistungsfähiger gewesen. Das »Ende des PCs« dürfte also noch in weiter Ferne sein, glaubt man der Analyse von Nvidia.
