Neue Details zur Fox Engine für PlayStation 4 und Xbox 720: Auf der vergangenen E3 2011 wurde die neue Fox Engine von Kojima Productions neben aktuellen Konsolen auch für PC angekündigt. Dass der Grafikmotor darüber hinaus bei Spielen für die kommende Xbox 720 und PlayStation 4 zum Einsatz kommen wird, scheint so gut wie sicher zu sein. Zumindest haben die Verantwortlichen jüngst durchblicken lassen, dass es nach oben hin keine Grenzen gibt, was die Entwicklung von zukünftigen Games anbelangt.

Im vergangen Jahr auf der E3 2011 gab Kojima Productions bekannt, dass an der sogenannten Fox Engine gearbeitet würde. Gleichzeitig veröffentlichte man einen ersten Screenshot aus einem in der Entwicklung befindlichen Spiel namens Project Ogre, das erstmals von der genannten Grafikengine angetrieben wird. Heute gibt es über Neuigkeiten zu berichten, welche die Entwicklung von kommenden Fox Engine-Spielen aus dem Hause Konami betrifft. Die Grafikengine soll demnach nicht nur Konsolen wie PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 oder die Wii U von Nintendo unterstützen, sondern auch eine kommende Xbox 720 und PlayStation 4.

Nach Angaben von Kojima Productions, sind nach oben hin keine Grenzen gesetzt. Die Fox Engine soll laut dem genannten Entwickler stark skalierbar sein, weswegen sie sich deutlich effizienter nutzen lasse. Die Entwicklung soll deswegen auch schneller vorankommen, als es beispielsweisel noch bei Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots der Fall war. Weiter heißt es, dass es im Prinzip ein "Drag-and-Drop" Level-Design mit dynamischen Elementen gibt. Die Kollisionsabfragen und die Wege der NPCs werden zudem "on-the-fly" und dynamisch berechnet.
